We are the WonderStars - welcome to our website!
Our junior photographers in action!
We are huge fans of Wonderopolis! The children can often be heard saying, "What's today's Wonder?" and they can't wait to get computer time so that they can check it out for themselves. Earlier this school year, I received a $500 mini-grant from the National Center for Family Literacy and Better World Books. With the money, we purchased 5 Canon PowerShot digital cameras (as well as bags and memory cards.)
For months and months we have been working to create this website. Kids are naturally curious so when I asked them to write down questions they had about anything and everything, it wasn't too hard to get them going. We have been sharing questions with each other and recording them on Post-it Notes, on chart paper, in writing and science notebooks, on scraps of paper... basically anywhere we could.
Once the children settled on a question (or topic) they were especially interested in, the research began! On this website you will find their mini-reports as well as videos and images related to their question to inspire you to do some questioning of your own. The individual websites were created by the children - they worked together to do the research, find the images and videos and put them all together in a website of their very own. We hope you enjoy your visit and learn something new!
